Starting Strength:
Deadlift 5 @ 150 lbs (+5 from last Tuesday) — PR!

Metcon: BASELINE
500 m row
40 squats
30 sit-ups
20 push-ups
10 pull-ups
[Ehhhh… it was HORRIBLE. The last time I did this, which was also my first ever Baseline, I got 8:32 and I did knee push-ups and pull-ups with the thick purple band. This time I did it RX’d. My time after the sit-ups was 6:00. My time after the push-ups was 7:40. But my time after the stupid pull-ups was 14:52. I know you’re laughing at me! Stop it! 😛 I was doing the pull-ups one by one; I haven’t done pull-ups in about two weeks I think, so I kind of lost the kipping motion. Oh well, I guess this means I just have to do Baseline again soon.]

Also I did my second BIA test before the workout, and found that I gained 1.3 2.7 lbs of muscle in the last 6 weeks! (Sorry, I have the worst memory, I think the 1.3 was for something else and I got it mixed up with the muscle gain number. Recalculated it and it is actually 2.7 :))

Workout:
Starting Strength:
Squat 5/5/3 @ 100 lbs (3rd attempt)
Press 5/5/5 @ 37 lbs (deload)

I was planning to deload for both the squat and press, but I decided to go for a third and final attempt at 100 lbs instead. I thought since I rested for so long that I might be able to do it. But unfortunately on the 4th rep of the last set I lost my balance when the bar started moving slightly forward and I couldn’t stop it.

And for presses, because there was such a huge difference when I jumped from 42 lbs (easy) to 47 lbs (really hard), I am going to increase more slowly from the beginning. So I’ll try 2.5 lbs increases, i.e. 39.5 lbs next week, 42 the week after, then 44.5, etc.

I’m glad to be back in the gym 🙂 and I cannot believe it’s December already…

27/11/2009 – Eid mubarak!

In Logs on November 27, 2009 by Suhaila

Really quick pseudo-update… I didn’t go to the gym yesterday because I wasn’t feeling very well after work, and today is Eid so I didn’t get a chance to go either. I am thinking of trying to go tomorrow if I have time to do some of the stuff I missed today and yesterday. We’ll see I guess. If not, I don’t think it’s too bad, since I was due for a rest week anyway, and since next week is a deload week, what better time is there to miss workouts than now?

Eid mubarak!

Deadlift 5 @ 145 lbs (+5 from last Tuesday)

Didn’t do a metcon today since my arms are feeling sore and in general I’m feeling really tired this week. Instead I just worked on rowing. Did 4x500m. I wrote the times down but forgot what they were… I didn’t beat my previous PR, which is kind of depressing since my previous PR was pretty bad (2:13.0).

Workout:
Starting Strength:
Squat 4/5/5 @ 100 lbs (2nd attempt — failed on first set because I was wearing my socks to lift in and my foot was slipping. I took off the socks for the rest and was fine… I’ll try this weight again anyway just to make sure since it was still borderline.)
Press 4/4/5 @ 47 lbs (+5 from last Monday)

After today’s workout, I think it’s time for some rest. I just didn’t feel very strong today, and have been feeling like this since last week sometime. I have been doing this SS-hybrid thing for 5 weeks straight now, and before that I was doing the regular CF wods 5 on 2 off for I don’t even remember how long without a break.

So I’m going to finish this week of SS, and then next week I’m going to take my numbers back down and start working up again.
